Troubles with bloating

Hi..
I had my yearly Colonoscopy.. and Gastroscopy. My Dr. said this years test.. showed my colitis was improving.. On Lialda and now on 2.5 mg of Prednisone from 40mg. (Am on Prednisone for one year .) For the past three months, I have a new symptom.. I am extremely bloated.. by the evening I look
and feel 7 months pregnant . I am 66.. I am not pregnant....
I had a cat scan, and ultrasound.. both normal. My Gastroscopy showed a small hiatal hernia..
I am so severely uncomfortable. What can this be??

Now here is the odd thing. When I was on the Prednisone I didn't gain any weight. In fact I lost weight and went from 164 lbs down to 143 in the time I was on it which was a total of 16 weeks. I was not so hungry andwlund up eating less because it seemed different foods bothered me and my UC. I did not experience the bloating but had the breakdown of muscle and my legs were very weak and I wound up having to walk with a cane for awhile.

I do have a small hiatal hernia too and find that sometimes I feel a little bloated in that area of my stomach but once Istop eating too much starch and dessert it seems to settle down. I take Lialda too for my UC and now on 4 pills per day along with Canasa at bedtime.

I sometimes wonder if the Lialda may be the culprit too for occasional bloating but not sure. Still trying to figure this whole thing out. It seems so different for everyone.

How long have you been on Lialda? I've been on it now since after my last colonoscopy which was June 21 this year.

It is listed as a rare side effect...not common though. I googled side effects of Lialda and stomach swelling is listed as rare.
