Hi everyone!
I have been on birth control since March 2015, so about
2 years so far. I was wondering if birth control loses its effectiveness with an individual diagnosed with ulcerative colitis.
I usually take the pill every day at 8:30pm, and although I am currently flaring; I have no bathroom trips during the night so I assume it's successfully digested. Furthermore, I have never skipped the pill. I'm asking because I'm worried about
the chance of pregnancy.
Thank you all in advance!

UC wouldn't impact the effectiveness of your birth control.

Thanks for your reply @notsosicklygirl Did you allow your partner to ejaculate in you? Sorry if that's too much information but I'm contemplating a pregnancy test.

If there's any doubt then get a pregnancy test, they're inexpensive enough.

I say take a test. Not even the pill is 100% effective.

If you're having severe diarrhea while taking the pill I'd say it lowers the pill's efficacy. The package says in times of sickness of vomiting and diarrhea you need to use backup contraception.
Take a test to be sure.

@momto2boys thank you!
@toomuchpoopin very true, that's what I'm thinking. I'm not experiencing severe diarrhea, but I'm leaning on taking a test for assurance. Thank for your reply also!

Of note, my GI doc (at an IBD only clinic) said myself or anyone with IVF should not take estrogen containing birth control as it can cause flares
