Hey guys, So Im fairly newly Diagnosed with UC (October 2016) & was hospitalized 8 Days with C-Diff in Mid November.

Prednisone and Apriso has very much helped me with symptoms although I still am experiencing them. Im currently on 20mg and gonna taper slowly. The meds have drastically decreased my blood in stool and bowel movements were down to probably 3 a day.

Recently the past few days my symptoms of cramping and discomfort are still a lot better but ive noticed more blood in my stool and maybe a couple more bowel movements. Im
not hurting like i used too and even though this is happening I dont feel really much worse. Any suggestions on why?

I admittedly dont watch my diet like I should, I am cautious but I feel like in my experience so far diet hasnt been a huge change. Im gonna hurt when its time to hurt no matter what I eat pretty much.

Im in college so this is important to me as i have obligations with class and a normal life etc. Mornings are always kinda rough for the first 45 minutes to an hour atleast until my meds kick in it seems. But then im okay to go to class and I do alright other than a few bowel movements, urgency is inconsistent but Ive managed it okay so far.

Looking for any advice. I do have another doctors appointment coming up, should I talk about Humira? Im not sure cause im definitely a good bit better. Thanks everyone!

Could be one of several things:

C diff can reoccur again, so it might be worth requesting another stool test.

Often we feel great while on high doses of prednisone but our symptoms begin returning (blood, urgency, and frequency) as we taper to lower doses. When that happens, it's good to contact your gasteroenterologist as it means you need stronger or more maintenance medications. Adding a nightly rowasa enema might help (has the same active ingredient as your anti-inflammatory apriso), I'd ask for it at your next appointment.

Yes, mornings are always the worst for us. As we heal and enter a remission (an absence of symptoms) then our mornings become normal.

I had a stool test last week. Came up negative.

I'm sorry this happening , being at school and all. Have you tried Capri and flagyl combo? Antibiotics have helped me while in pred. I'm tapering to myself. I would be Leary though since you had c diff before. Are you taking probiotics now? If no, look into them since you're on pred too, just help keep yeast a bay. I hope things improve. Stay way from salads, nuts, popcorn anything rough.

If you're only on apriso, then I'd ask about adding a rectal-route rowasa enema. It's the same anti-inflammatory medication as in apriso.

Well after my doctor appointment.

The decision has come to Humira. Hopefully starting in the next week or so!

how much apriso are you taking ?

i would try some butt meds before moving on to humira -

4 Apriso daily.
