Bloating?

I'm a newbie here! I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis October of 2015 and I am currently going through a bad flare up right now. I was in remission for 6 months and I felt so normal that I was silly enough to think I was "cured". Unfortunately, a flare up was triggered due to major stress. Its been a month now with constant pain, bloody stools, etc. I'm wondering if anyone else has major bloating while going through a flare up? My stomach is so huge right now! It's uncomfortable I feel like I look pregnant. (Trust me, I'm not!). Is this a symptom of UC?

I find I get really bloated in the evening no matter what I eat. I usually try and lay down (on my left side) if it was really bad. I know it's not prevention or a concrete way to deal but it seems to make me feel a little better.


Have you tried eliminating stuff like dairy and see if that makes a difference? Maybe just keep trying to eliminate diff things.

I have altered my diet radically and am now following the SCD and am feeling hopeful of a remission after a year. (My GI doctor is adamant that diet has no effect...) I used to have terrible bloating and it is now pretty much gone. I would try to examine your diet and see if you can find a link. It might also be the medications you are on. I was on Balsalazide and have discovered it was was giving me terrible diarrhea, nausea and fatigue.
