Lrachel i see that you tried all 5ASAs how long were you on each one before trying another and what happened when you took them?
I don't remember how long I was on each one individually, but I was on 5 ASAs for over a year and a half total. I was on Colazol the longest. There were a few, like Lialda, which I could only tolerate for a few weeks before I had to switch to something else.
As for what happened - they basically gave me flare symptoms. I was going to the bathroom 30 times a day with urgency, including waking up in the middle of the night, as well as having severe nausea and vomiting. Literally within moments of eating anything, regardless of what it was, even drinking water, I would have to rush to the bathroom. My doctors said that my colonoscopies looked pretty good. Only very mild inflammation that wouldn't explain symptoms that severe. Eventually, I dropped 11 lbs in a week and was dehydrated, vitamin deficient, etc...
So if the inflammation in your colon is improving but your symptoms aren't, it could be mesalamine intolerance.
