I'm still doing good UC wise - still in solid remission (going on 5 years now!). My potassium levels have stabilized. But I'm still dealing with chronic sinus infections since I had the DCR surgery on my tear duct so I'm seeing the family doc in March to get a referral to see an ENT.

I also wanted to stop in tell the people that remember that I'm finally a grandma! My daughter had her son on February 7th. He was born at 8:16am weighing 8lbs 2oz and 21 1/2" long. A big healthy boy smile Mommy is doing great as well.

Congrats on the grandchild! I hope you soon get answers on the chronic sinus infections, a bummer on that.

Thanks guys! Our daughter is living with us so I get the best of both worlds because I get to be grama and get to see him all the time but I don't have to get up in the middle of the night to feed the baby lol

Yes these sinus infections are horrible! I was extremely sick in January with a bad sinus and double ear infections. I am not regretting the DCR at all tho. I had a 100% blockage in my tear duct and was getting multiple eye infections as well as skin break down from all the tearing. So even tho I'm trading one issue for the other, at least it's not constant like the blocked tear duct. On a daily basis, I am blowing yellow/green junk out on the side I had surgery but I'm not stuffy or sick feeling. So I have no idea what's going on. Hopefully an ENT can give me answers.

Sherry....have you had the bacteria cultured?
Have you also had a nasal swab to test for staph?

Healseeker, I just read that there is a moderate interaction between things that lower the immune system and Glucans. I'm on Remicade.

I join in with congratulations and best wishes smile Great to hear your uc is under control (sinus can be nasty, but still it's nothing compared to uc). As a happy grandma you've go to stay healthy!

I meant just like you said. Glucans increases the immune response but I'm on Remicade that lowers it. I have a feeling my body would be at war with itself if I tried it lol And I don't want to try anything that could jeopardize my remission.

My UC has always been in a state of turmoil. For nearly 20 years to be exact but I found that when I got sick, my UC would flare even harder. Not the opposite.

Congratulations on your new grandson, Sherry! You are definitely a young Gma!!!! Where is Sherbear? I think she gives good advice on sinus troubles. Sorry to read that it's bothering you again, Grrrrrrr. / Old Hat (36 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)
