Joint pains ! Side effects of UC?

Hey guys,
This is Smiti. Had been diagnosed with UC in 2015. Am 22 yrs old, and struggling!! eyes Recently, developed joint pains..like my lower back, knuckles, knee joints hurt a lot while walking..Is this a side effect of Adalimumab?

Also, am a new member..would love to hear you all..and share mine too! blush

Joint pains are somewhat common with UC. Some people with UC have inflammatory arthritis along with their UC.

Unfortunately, it can also be a side effect of adalimumab. Some people who have joint pain with their UC find that adalimumab helps with their joint pain. But others find that adalimumab actually makes their joint pain worse, or causes them to have it when they didn't before!

Did you have any joint issues before starting this med?

And how long have you been on the adalimumab?

You'll need to work with your doctor to figure out the cause of the joint pain. If it's from the UC, there are other meds you can add to the humira. If it's from the humira, you can try to 'tough it out,' or you can stop and try a different medication.

None at all. I have no such issue before taking Adalimumab shots.
I am on Adalimumab for almost 8 months now.
This is the first time am having these joint aches, basically it's kind-of difficult to walk. Or else otherwise, am fine..am not quite sure what would be the consequence of discontinuing Adalimubab. Pretty afraid of falre ups. Thanks anyway.. smile

Am afraid things might turn worse if I stop taking Adalimumab. Lets see..need to talk to my doctor too..

I usually get joint pain when I taper off of prednisone. My theory is that the prednisone gives cortisol to the body and the body stops producing it on its own..What I found successful was honey bee venom shots. It's like natural cortisone shots and worked great for me. When you inject bee venom in your body, the body thinks you're getting attack and produces cortisone. A naturopath will be able to help you with this. You will need to research in your area for one that specializes in it. (I know a great one in Langley, BC, Canada) I find the bee venom shots are more effective than the bee stings.Another thing I found.. that helped with inflammation recently is the Tendlite red therapy pen. There's two ideas for you, hope you find what works for you!
