Help, initial symptoms UC?

I am 37 year male. It was in October 2016 when I had a left lower side belly pain, no diarrhea, no blood, no mucus, just cramping pain, and my PCP thought I had some infection, he prescribed metronidazole and I felt fine after that, but again the pain started after a month. Then, in February my PCP did a CBC and iron studies which showed "Low hemoglobin and low iron". I got a "CT scan", which showed "diffuse thickening of descending and sigmod colon" secondary to colitis. I was referred to GI and he thought there is a chance of "ulcerative colitis" and was not sure as my stool guaiac was negative, and has scheduled my colonoscopy in 2 weeks. I am dreading to get ulcerative colitis. I quit smoking 2 years ago.

Current symptoms: Left lower cramping pain, no blood, no mucus, no fever.

Please your input in my case will be highly appreciated. What are the chances I am going to have this problem? Anyone in, or has been in the similar situation.

Your colonoscopy will tell you a lot. Biopsies may be key too.

In the meantime, you could have your PCP order stool tests to rule out infectious agents, c.diff, ova¶sites, etc, if that hasn't been done already.

Without more information, we'd only be guessing on the chances of it being this or that. I know it's hard to wait for results, but that's what you'll have to do.

Without blood in stool I'm not sure that it's ulcerative colitis. Blood is usually the symptom that cause us to seek out a diagnosis. Agreed none of us can diagnose, we're not doctors and any diagnosis rules out other possible conditions with overlapping symptoms. There's infectious-colitis, infections like c-diff, IBS, and other things it could be. I'd guess one of those.

Could it be a form of IBD? Possibly. See what your colonscopy and biopsy results say.
