Possible flare starting?

Hi, I was diagnosed with left side UC on December 8th 2016 after what was essentially a 6 year flare. Was originally diagnosed with IBS in 2010 but symptoms got worse. I was going average of 5 times a day, mucous, blood, serious urgency to go etc...but after I lost 20lbs in a matter of 6 months my doc sent me to GI specialist and colonoscopy revealed UC. Was prescribed mesalamine enemas for 3 weeks and 60mg of Prednisone a day. Went into remission pretty fast and was put on Lialda, azathioprine, and started tapering off of Prednisone. Finished prednisone on March 17th 2017. The last few days now my stool has been getting loose and this a.m. was straight up diarrhea. I also noticed it is getting harder to pass gas and my acid reflux is coming back as well after not having any reflux for over 4 months. I'm wondering if this is the start of a flare and if I should go back on steroids? There is no mucous or blood at this point though. Any ideas?

I always react well to prednisone, too, and my symptoms slowly start coming back when I start tapering down to 20 mg. Had 4 courses of steroids over the last year, and my UC is now ruled steroid-dependent, meaning I can't get to remission unless I'm on steroids. Just started Entyvio to see if that would send me into remission.

So, yes, possible you have the same situation. It could also just be a reaction to coming off the prednisone? (I don't know if this is a thing or not, just something I've wondered.) Definitely keep an eye on it and call your doc as soon as things get even a little worse.

Thanks all for the advice. No blood or mucous in my stool as of yet. My regular GI doc out of town till Monday so I'll be calling first thing next week. Going back to eating rice and chicken broth till then.
