Xeljanz Update - One Year and in Remission

about a year ago, husband started on Xeljanz. It is not yet approved for UC but everything else hadn't worked and doctor suggested he give this a try since surgery was the only option. Amazingly insurance agreed to cover it.

Within a week he felt that it was working and by about four months in he felt like he was in full remission. Colonoscopy in the fall confirmed that. No apparent side effects. It is 4 small pills a day. I have read that Pfizer is hoping it will get FDA approval for UC this year. For people who have failed the anti-TNF biologics and entyvio, this may be a good alternative.

Nice, Xeljanx will be my backup plan.

These newer meds seem to have less side-effects than the anti-tnf meds. And easier to administer.

great news! I have been reading a good bit into Pfizers research. Interestingly enough, I work in the pharma industry as an engineer and work right down the road from Pfizer at a different company in NC. I dont know if they are working on this product at their NC site but again, awesome news.

If it gets approved it may work its way down the ladder a little.. is there any reason you need to have tried biologics before this?
