@ Probiotic- Go against the grain during a flare. Stay away from grains contaminated with gluten which is hard to digest like wheat, barley, rye and oats. Your gut definitely needs a rest so processed foods and complex starches may cause problems as well. Ripe bananas with spots on them are usually tolerable for me during a flame. (Btw, I get sick on bananas, but it keeps me from starving.)

The two clays that have been used and discussed most are Pascalite (a US product) and Montmorillonite (spelling?) which is French I believe. But there is also a red clay available also. Look online (google the names) but don't know who ships to India.

Pascalite recently had to stop saying it could be taken internally and is marketed only as an external beauty product. You have to decide whether to use it internally (I do but not often).

Clay did not "cure" me but is a very useful supplement and my colon likes it. Again it is not something I use often, but it settles my GI system down and I have found clay beneficial. I put a teaspoon of clay into a glass of water, mix well and drink it. Never more than 8 oz of this mixture a day for me. Others may do differently. Also do not take the clay water with pills as the clay may neutralize the pills.

Dusting off this old thread, I am using this toothpaste called earth paste and it has clay in it. I had burned my gums from hot pizza and it healed really fast. Then I remembered this thread from years ago, so I ordered some Pascalite clay and started taking it yesterday. 1 tsp first thing in the morning, I will report back in a few weeks with my progress. Currently I go 6-8 times a day with the normal UC bm's. They vary depending on my diet for the day. Since I took the clay yesterday I feel like its detoxing me since I am having slight runny nose/congestion.

well no update I havent been taking it consistently to report. Will try better this month.

1st edit: the post above is a sales pitch for a particular clay collected in a "mystical" region in Oregon. My non-mystical clay works fine.

2nd edit: my edit comment above now makes no sense because the 7 page posting about "sacred clay" has been (rightfully) removed so never mind as Roseannroseanna Danna would say.

my original post edited: I own 3, white, green and red and really don't know what is different about them. Just know that they are helpful and every now and then drink a glass of clay water with good results.

I'm a believer in clay and not many supplements have ever been OK'd by my gut.
Not all clay sold can be taken internally, buyer beware.

Sorry, I need your help.
I was detected with colitis in 2009, took ayurveda in India (as the flare was mild, no blood). But then this time Nov 2018, I had a major flare.

I am currently taking Lialda 4 * 1.2 + Prednisone + Canasa.

Any help will be useful.

If you search this forum you will find sporadic reference to using clay here, over the years. ANything that could possibly help us has been tried over the years. It's one of many things that could help, but likely has little to no scientific evidence behind it. Due to the scant proof, I would not hold much hope on it helping. Try and see, if you are so inclined and report back.

Hi needtofix-

I wouldn't stop any of my current regimen if I were you but I have been using Terramin clay since this thread started way back when and do notice benefits to my IBD from using it. I also tried Bentonite clay but it was just so incredibly clumpy I discontinued it very shortly. Like iPoop said there's not much data on clay regarding IBD, but I've had some success with it over the years FWIW.

My mother has IBS/something more maybe/who know? and she tried it starting a few weeks ago and said it really aggravated her system and she gave me her bag of Terramin.
