Hey folks. Here's a quick rundown. Got diagnosed with UC in 2013. Been consistently flaring since December of 2014. Steroids wouldn't ever Lear things up totally. Entyvio helped for a few months but only fixed things around 50%. Last Thursday I was in a full on flare and had been for a few weeks. Losing lots of blood. My UC has generally been in the rectal area and lower left side. Fortunately I haven't struggled with diarrhea but was often crapping my pants with just blood. I have tried a lot of diets and done them religiously. I have tried most all of them with very little success. When it did help it only helped slightly. Last Thursday my GI put me on 40 mg of prednisone. I just went out on a limb and decided to do a fast where all I am consuming is L-Glutamine at 40g per day and two times daily I drink a shake that has other amino acids in it. I also drink a glass of aloe Vera juice at night. So I'm at 4.5 days of zero food and I have seen drastic improvement. The first two days I still had issues. Bloody BM's but the last two and a half days have been amazing. Pain has totally subsided and I am seeing absolutely zero blood. I did a five day fast last year which helped none at all. Now I am seeing great benefits. I believe this is in part due to the L Glutamine and other amino acids. I am giving my guy what it needs to heal and the difference between this fast and the last is staggering. I plan to go another two to three days and then slowly reintroduce one food at the time. I think I am giving my colon a chance to heal and the amino acids that it needs to do so. I recommend this approach to anyone interested. I'm not saying that I'm totally healed, but this is the best I've felt in at least three years. I was borderline Anaemic when I did my blood work last week. This was a last ditch effort before a blood transfusion. Do any of you have good ideas for what foods to reintroduce first. I want to stay all natural with no processed sugars or peanuts. Believe it or not I feel great during this fast I am in the middle of finals week of college and my mental clarity is better than it was before I was fasting. I felt like crap during the last fast that was unsuccessful. I attribute the current success to the L-Glut and other amino acids. I want to encourage everyone to not give up fighting. If I can be of any assistance to one of you please don't hesitate to ask. Cheers for those who are in the trenches fighting this battle. Think of how much you overcome, be proud of your fight. You're tough as hell. Positive thoughts can make such a big difference in your symptoms. Don't give up! Someday soon I believe there will be a cure for this disease and we will be sitting around wondering what to do with all of our free time and extra energy. God Bless,
Garrett
