I just had my 6th Remicade infusion this morning. about 5 minutes into the infusion, I started having excruciating lower back pain. I also experienced this during my infusion about 6 weeks ago.I was given a steroid in my IV to help with the pain which it did. I didn't have this during the first 4 infusions. I had Remicade infusion in the past starting in 2005 for about 2 years and did not have this problem. I was wondering if anyone else experienced this side effect? confused

Have you been tested for remicade-antibodies? As those with antibodies are most likely to have infusion-reactions. Ask for an infliximab serum minimum and antibodies test. If you have high antibodies then it might be time to switch to humira or simponi.

No I haven't. I called my GI and waiting on a reply. I think that might be the problem.

Prometheus labs in CA invented the blood test and still charges top dollar for it. I've had labcorp's version of that test which is a lot more affordable. There's likely other labs that do that test now too.

Thank you, Last night, I had a reaction. Headache, fever and my joints hurt like crazy. I predict no more Remicade for me.
