I've got a few false negative in the past, so yep I really think it's possible to have 2 false negative in a row and still have c-diff....I do not trust those tests, so I am paranoid just as you.
You made the right decision to try another lab. Make shure to bring a super fresh sample. I read that in only two hours one of the c-diff toxin can be gone! I think that's what I did wrong. And I also tried activated charcoal ... which lead to false negative, I would'nt recommand at all.... It only absord the toxin that gives the symptoms, doesn't kill the beast.
In my case, Pred hide the biggest symptoms for c-diff, but other remains. The first false negative I've got, my doc put me on pred for a month and a half (he thought I was only flaring) and I was feeling very bad. I was desperate for help, I've been able to lower my symptoms with oregano oil and s. boulardii. The day I stopped pred, fever came back and c-diff hit hard again. But this time the stool test was right wouhou
The last flare, I've got 2 negatives in a row even though it had exact symptoms of c-diff mixed with a good Crohn's flare... Oregano oil helped me again, but it just can do the job, not strong enough. My GI finally gave me Vanco, just in case it was false negative, to avoid surgery and I got sooooo much better...
