Cologuard and other alternatives to Colonoscopies

Colonoscopies theses days are a lot of money and still pretty invasive and annoying. With new technology coming out, I was wondering if there were any decent alternatives to this method? I'm aware Cologuard might be a gamble and IF I did have an issue, I'd need a colonoscopy anyway. Just wondering, thanks.

I don't know. I seem to always have polyps so I'd need them to go in anyway. What I wish for is an easier prep method. I find the scope to be no big deal (granted, I don't have to worry about the cost), but the prep is SUCH an ordeal. I am dreading the next one already.

I would pay a lot for a better prep. I can't be the only one. It must be worth some company's worthwhile to pour some R&D into this.

Is Canada really that much better than the US in healthcare?

All I said was I don't have to worry about paying for colonoscopies. There are things about Canada's health care system that are better, and there are things about the US health care system that are better. Neither system is perfect.

Neither system offers an easy colonoscopy prep! ;)

Five years ago I only had to pay the co-pay for the procedure. Now I have to pay $1200 and that's with coverage. The government is a mess because they control medical. Thanks obama.

C-scope is visual with the option of biopsies.....which those of us with IBD need for cancer and precancer and polyp removal.

We don't pay for scopes., but some doctors do charge some fees for some procedures. For the privilege of that healthcare, we wait a very loooong time.

Cologuard's commercial strictly state patients with IBD shouldn't use it. I think other Fecal Occult Tests prescribed by a gastroentrologist would be a better supplement, not alternative, to a colonoscopy.
