Sore throat from biologic

Does it come and go? Or did it appear and has been consistently sore for the few days? Go to the doctor....gp or a clinic....at least have it checked out swabbed just to be sure. It might be reflux....have you had feelings of discomfort in your esophagus?

When you had reflux in the past...what med did you take?
Have you looked at your throat with a flashlight?

Do yiu have asthma and are you on steroid inhaler?

Do you have white stuff on your tongue? It could be Trush due your lower immune system.

When I get thrush from antibiotics it gives me a bad taste in my mouth and then the white tongue happens a couple of days later. It can lead to a sore throat.

Maybe take an antihistamine and see if it goes away.....could be allergy intolerance to the med or something in it. If your next infusion produces worse symptoms, it say seek another option.

I'm on Humira and have had brief appearance of cold/sinus type symptoms appear in the days after my injection. But I can't say it was anything more than a scratchy throat, drippy nose, and minor headache. Zyrtec seemed to knock it out pretty quickly. Maybe try an anti-histamine?

Thanks for all the inputs! I wrote this post as I was leaving for a 10days vacation trip. And this sore throat turned out to be a bad cold... I don't have cold really often (not even once a year), but it did reminds me the years I was on Imuran, I had cold all the times. Hope it's a one time thing with Stelara! This cold happens 4 weeks after my injection, so it might not be related. Fingers crossed.

@therealmiracles : I'm stil doing good on Stelara. My last bloodwork 10 days ago showed that I got down to a CRP of 10 without any prednisone! so it's really promising. Now I am at week 5-6 between my two shots and I can see blood and mucus coming back unfortunately. I had to cut down on salad and some other food two. I'm still waiting a call from my doctor, with my last Calpro test and (I think) a Stelara concentration level in my blood, he will tell me if I should get my injection every 4wks. Otherwise, I don't have gerd myself... Sorry to hear you still have symptoms like bleeding, do you think you could get the injection every 4 weeks? I know in the US the insurance might not allowed it for money reason :S Maybe your Stelara concentration level is low, do you know it? Your symptoms looks worst than mine actually...

I'm on Remicade and Imuran, and have had an intermittent sore throat for the past 3 or 4 weeks. I actually remember this happening once before, 2 years ago before I was on immunomodulators, so maybe it's whatever happened back then. (I was never diagnosed with anything.) But this time, I am wondering if it might have to do with the drugs, because being on them makes me a hypochondriac. =P When the sore throat is especially bad, it comes with swollen lymph nodes and fatigue. But it never evolves into a cold or any other symptoms.

Is it thrush? Strep? Mono? Throat cancer? Agh! I'll make a doctor appointment, but wanted to check in here too--maybe it's just a reaction to the meds?
