And, many veteran members disagree.
I think it's wonderful that you can drink milk.
Ultimately, Clafuu has to decide for himself what he eats.
His health choices are his own and nobody else's - certainly not mine. But, Clafuu asked for opinions from people who have been there.
Each of each of us has an obligation to help him get out of the awful situation he's in now. You and I both know there is a huge controversy about
different foods.
Milk may have a bacteria called MAP. Many old veterans here believe that may have something to do with this awful disease - or maybe not.
It has milk sugar called lactose. He may lack the enzyme to break it down - or not.
It has proteins called casein that may be difficult to digest - or it may be that those proteins get fermented in the gut in a way that tears the mucus lining of the colon apart - or not.
The same is true of glutens.
You know from experience that gluten gives you problems but dairy doesn't.
MarjieKay has said that she does well with dairy.
Many on this forum have said that getting as close to Paleo as possible has really helped.
Or, maybe the food we eat has absolutely nothing to do with inducing flares. Maybe Clafuu will find over time that he can eat chicken deep fried in vegetable oil on a baguette smothered in ghost peppers and chase it down with belly shots of skim milk.
But, starting out with a diet as clean of the foods that so many colitis suffers have anecdotally said tear them apart is the way to get out of the early awful pain and d.
That's just my opinion.
Take it for what it's worth.
Remember, Clafuu specifically asked for opinions on diet. Most people were being very helpful as regards medication but we're not immediately forthcoming as regards diet.
Now, he's had the benefit of my opinion and yours and Noodles' awesome post.
He can now decide for himself.
