How often do you get Remicade?

I have been on Remicade for a few months now.  Seems to be going great - until recently.  I started off with my first visit, then 2 weeks, then 4 weeks, then 6 weeks, and now every 8 weeks.  8 weeks worked good until recently.  Right before my last visit (about 7 weeks), i started to get a flare back - but before i knew it i had a remicade visit and fine again.  Now i am only 4 weeks from my last remicade infusion, and a flare came back.  I also quit taking all my other meds since the remicade was working so good (doctor wasn't too happy through), but my question is how often do you get remicade infusions?  My doctor said he can push it back to 6 weeks, but is there a problem going after 4 weeks if i have a flare?  Just curious.

I was on Asacol, but they recently switched me to Lialda instead (since it was once a day). I also was taking Azasan.

The doctor just called back and scheduled me a Remicade appointment for this afternoon - that makes it only 4 weeks since my last one - so it must be fine.

hey there- same thing happened with me- did great the first 3 infusions, then 3 weeks after the 3rd one I started to flare. Called my GI doc, freaking out- he told me I was likely making anti-bodies to it, & we upped my Imuran. I don't think you can get Remicade on a 4 week basis indefinitely- it's a pretty heavy duty drug. But I would continue to take my other meds if I were you- once you make anti-bodies to Remicade, it won't work no matter how often you go. An immune suppressor is supposedly key to take while on the Remicade. I just had an infusion this past Monday & am doing fine again. How long, is the $20,000 question.... good luck!

I have been on it for 4months now. I am going once every 5 weeks. I also take methotextrate. I think you can go once every 4 weeks if needed. So far after my 6 infusion i am in remission. I still take asa-5, just because why wouldn't I?

Currently I have my infusions every 6 weeks. I take methotrexate weekly so I will not build antibodies. I have been on Remicade 2 years. I started out weekly for awhile, went every 2 weeks, then every 4 weeks and then 6 weeks, then eight...had surgery and went back to six. Now we are thinking of going back to 8 and after a few months will lower the amount from 10 to 7.5 then to 5.

I have severe fistulizing Crohns. My doctor gave me 3-6 months if we could not get it under control. We had tried many of the other drugs but Remicade was the first of its kind. It saved my life, healed most of my colon---but I developed a stricture and now I have a stoma. If we can get the last fistula cleared up or repaired we may be able to hook me back up.

My doctor checks me for antibodies and trough levels at least every 3 months.....but again....I have severe fistulizing Crohns. The test helps monitor the amount of Remicade in my system. If you have antibodies the Remicade usually does not work. Personally...I would ask for methotrexate and a test to determine your levels.
