I watched the human micro biome project video today and they were discussing how every single thing we do, eat and even every environment we enter affects our balance to some degree, so this doesn't surprise me.

Although the researcher had her micro biome assessed three times (far apart) and her top 4 bacterial varieties remained her top four consistently (even after a course of antibiotics).

Maybe some people are just more subject to alterations?

And maybe this idea is why they suggest people getting FMT's select from people who don't live under the same roof?

I've always wondered if the increased incidence of IBD in households is due to shared bathrooms, taps, food etc coupled with a similar genetic predisposition to ourselves. Typically infections spread by the fecal-oral route cause diarrhea etc as their mode of transmission, respiratory viruses cause sneezing etc.
