suebear had collectomy for a small amount of inflammation, i think it was proctitis - and it wasn't a large area. She doesn't come to the UC board too often, but once in a while she pops in. She's always been extremely up-front with her story. She had surgery, it was quite a few years ago, before biologics... after failing immune suppressants, there weren't much in the way of options at that time. She had surgery and never looked back. It's hard, you still have options to try, but with the moles, and cancer, and busy life, surgery does seem like it would be a better QOL, and less risky than drugs, for the long term. At the same time, the surgery itself is no walk in the park, and the results are not guaranteed. Some people do better than others. If you read, or speak to real patients, I would imagine you would get a different picture than you get from reading the internet. Seems like a lot of people with problems return to the internet. People like atwoodt, pluot, bostwis, took off because they don't need support anymore. Everyone's journey to surgery is different. Some people have complications and end up taking longer to heal, others have everything go straightforward, and never have any hospitalizations during the process. I can say, if I had kids that were active, and I wanted my life back, I could see surgery being a good path, but you never know how it's going to be for you & you may take entyvio and be 100% at some point. I guess take it one day at a time and see how it goes.
