Can eggs worsen a colitis flare ?

I'm In what my Dr believes to be my first bad flare since being diagnosed with proctitis. I've been using pred foam for a week and my symptoms were starting to ease off until last night . I ate an omelette made with 3 eggs and all night I was up and down with stomach cramps and diahrreah which then led to bleeding again which had stopped . I have had eggs during the past 3 weeks but only one during the meal. Is it possible they have aggravated things again? Sorry if this sounds dumb but I'm new to all these symptoms .

I would say maybe. Sometimes eggs really bother me and sometimes they are the only thing my body can digest. When I was flaring the first time I ate two eggs a day, but the second time I flared eggs made me feel horrible. Now I only eat them if i really have a craving for them. They tend to sit well with me if I want to eat them.

I eat one or 2 daily for breakfast. They wont worsen a flare as in the UC aspect, but if eggs do not agree with you and you dont feel good eating them, then dont.

Just curious what kind of eggs.....high omega eggs might be too much for your digestive tract in general.
How you cook them, eat them with and how many are factors in comfort level.

You are flaring and diarrhea daily. I would try not to focus on eggs and go back to the doctor for change in meds.

I'd say the eggs are irrelevant or coincidental. You're flaring, treat the flare appropriately.

Maybe you got salmonella.

Uc is very individual and changes for each of us with each flare sometimes. I've had flares when I could eat all meat and feel great and flares when just a bite of meat doubles my blood. I even find some times when in remission that foods I normally eat daily (like tomatoes) are causing me D. It's really important to constantly adapt to changes.

You mentioned your ibd nurse takes a wait and see approach. I wouldn't accept that. I've had 3 different GIs since diagnosis and all 3 make immediate changes as soon as my symptoms worsen. The only time I wait and see is when I try a new medication. Even then they usually want to see a quick response if even a slight change within 3-4 days except for slow meds like imuran.

As far as feeling patronized, I've read and reread the posts above and see only the standard helpful post responses. Keep in mind that some posters answer 15 or more questions on the forum a day. So answers tend to be short and to the point. Some tips for the forum:

1) add a signature so that we can see what meds you are on and your diagnosis in one quick glance
2) notice there are some on the forum that are all diet, some are all meds and some a combo. We can disagree on treatments but all agree this disease sucks and honestly just want to support each other.

I spoke to my ibd nurse again yesterday who decided to do some more stool tests as she thought it sounded infectious and she also wanted tocheck my calprotectin levels again ( they were all fine 3 weeks ago) but she said if the cultures came back clear I was to start on oral steroids . I had my gloves and tubes ready for first thing this morning ( I've woken every morning for the past 3 weeks needing to go urgently ) and nothing ...
Not one pain no urge to go nothing at all. Which is good but I now can't find out what happens next until I do .
