Pentasa suppository nightmare !!

Hi can anyone help me . I've just been put on pentasa suppositories but I'm struggling . Lke most of us on here im used to things being put in holes things shouldn't go into but these little beauties are something else .
The asacol suppositories were softer and waxy but the pentasa are big and hard . I felt like it was hanging out all night then this morning whilst on the toilet it plopped into the toilet . Am I safe to use lubricant with it to get it in ?

Absolutely! You have to push it past the sphincter.

I've never used Pentasa supps.....but I do use proctocedyl on occasion. I wet it with warm water and insert it while squatting in the shower.

Are they 500mg or 1000mg?

Is the shape like a bullet or oval?

They can be slippery but you will figure out how much to wet it...etc. keep us updated ☺

They are 1000mg and oval in shape . Can't actually believe the size of them 😕

They are tricky to use at first, back when I had to use them for the first time I had problems too. What worked for me is wetting them slightly like Quincy said, and then lifting one foot up onto the toilet before putting it in. Make sure you push it in as far as you are able.

I'm unsure about how dry it is . It had dissolved slightly but not much. I dont think it was anywhere near where it should have been . I 'll try again tonight . Thank you all

Thanks for all your advice I tried wetting the suppository slightly and it went in easy and stayed in place. Result !!

Pentasa suppositories are horrible.. I remember having the same experience, they were big, painful to use and you would feel it inside. Salofalk is 1000x times better, you just slip it inside and you don’t feel anything, try getting them if you can
