In the hospital all week bad flare up for 6 months
Starting Hurmia in the morning. Sort of scared of the drug ( silly commercials )any positive good stories to reassure me.

Thanks

47 year old mother of 4
Flare up since June
Was in remission for 9 years before that
15-20 BM a day of blood
Pain meds every 4-6 hours
Blood transfusion this week
On IV Methylprednisolone

I hope humira works quickly for you and you're soon out of the hospital!

I've been on remicade, a sister medication to humira, for 5 years without any side effects from it. Everyone is a little nervous when first starting a new class of medications, myself included. It was worrying for not though.

We've had lots of posters have success with humira.

I find Humira easy to use and I have not had any side effects from it. I have really preferred doing it, at home and on my own time. I hope it works well for you!

I started in December and had 7 wonderful months of remission with zero side effects. I am currently having a mild flare but am continuing Humira. I like the fact that I can do it at home and the injection is literally less than 10 seconds. Remember to take it out of the fridge at least an hour before injecting. Best of luck to you!

I am also about to start Humira because I just was hospitalized for Balsalazide induced acute pancreatitis. I am no longer elligable for mesalamines as they all can cause pancreatitis. I had finally come to terms with the fact that it was time, then this happened. I feel most nervous about catching every blooming thing that passes like I did when I was younger. I used to get sick just from lack of sleep. What are you most afraid of? You held on for a really long time flaring. Were you on any meds before? I am sorry you are so sick, that sounds miserable. I hope you respond quickly to the Humira and get some much needed relief. Will you keep us posted? I would love to hear how it works out for you.

Took my first shot of Humira 5 years ago after being diagnosed with UC. It immediately sent me into remission for 5 years. I didn’t even know I had the disease until I stopped taking it regularly and developed antibodies so it no longer works. I’m now dealing with a 5 month flare about to start Entyvio.

I have been on Humira since march 25th, this year. By the second week I was, and still am, living a normal life. No mapping out bathrooms, when going somewhere, or refusing to get on a freeway. No missing wedding, and dinners out. But I have to tell you something they don't put in the warnings. My hair is so thin now, I am thinking of getting a wig. I never had thin hair 8 months ago. I called my Humira nurse, and she said, yes, it's not listed, but they are getting many people with hair loss, or thinning. It's not everyone, but many.

Glad you're doing well. Are you anemic or low in vitamin's B, B12, or D? As that can cause hairloss as well.

Hi valli1234,

I started Humira this summer and have had pretty good results. No side effects thus far and it has allowed me to get off Prednisone which I had basically become dependent on.

I got a cold after going to a football game in the rain a few weeks ago but was able to kick it within a few days so I think my immune system is still doing ok (knock on wood!).

I would urge you to weigh the benefits just as much as you do the cons, because sometimes we tend to put the emphasis on the bad stuff.

👼 Hi ok things are finally looking up today it was a rough week . Started the hurmia last Friday and it went down hill from there. My hemoglobin dropped back to 72 and my CRP to 99 . Still on steroid IV and pain meds. Had a scope down in the hospital here and it was serve bleeding past 40 cm and all inflammation all the way . Then a special CT scan yesterday that showed inflammation in the whole colon . The doctors called in the surgeon team and they want to operate Monday . Only difference is I asked for a few more days ( got it last Friday ) and one more extra booster shot of hurmia . The first was 4 , 40 mg and today I got 2 more 40 . Since last night I have seen a improvement in my frequency and blood . I have only had 5 BM so far today with half the blood was was pouring out days ago .
I just want to give hurmia a chance before we go taking out my whole colon. So I hope tonight is a good night because that’s when I flare up the most .
And thank you everyone for sharing your postive stories with me . Sometimes you feel so alone fighting this horrific disease. Sorry for typos on my phone and stuck in this hospital bed for 2 weeks now. 😢
