After having my colonoscopy this morning the doc said I am flaring on the sigmoid end up till the first bend which is my usual spot, symptoms have not been usual I have very little to no blood and mucus just diarrhea twice a day with some solid stool.
I am on for the Lialda a day. Three times a week Rowasa
I watch my diet I do not drink alcohol or smoke I do not eat spicy foods
The doctor this morning said maybe I should consider humaria. Of course I see all the Bad side effects on TV commercials but I would like to hear from Humaria users.
My real concerns are the risk of causing cancer. How much it affects your daily life I know you will be susceptible to germs and other stuff I ride a train to work every morning in New York.
Will it affect my ability to workout at the gym Sex drive etc

I've been remicade, a sister medication to humira, since 2012 and I have experienced zero side effects from it. It's the only medication to put my uc into a remission. My quality of life has been wonderful, able to forget about UC and enjoy my life. No affect on gym, sex, etc.

Yes, the might cause cancer bit is unnerving to us all. But what is the actual risk behind it? The most concerning side effect of these medications is lymphoma which has odds of 6 in 10,000 (or 0.06 percent) assuming you are concurrently on immunomodulators like 6mp/imuran, compared to 2 in 10,000 ( or 0.02 percent) for the general population. It's believed that the immunomodulators are the most likely supect in the lymphomas, not the biologics. What happens to those who got the lymphoma? 66% were able to put it ibto a remission. So you're talking really long odds... and nothing to loose sleep over. The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America is the source for these statistics:

I started Humira about 7 weeks ago after a horrific flare. So far so good. Be diligent about hand washing, door handles, use hand sanitizer after standing at the pharmacy counter, etc. Other than feeling a little tired occasionally as I adjust to the med life has gone on normally!

Thank you for the replies. I will continue to do research. I will try the diet approach. Although pretty strict diet already.

I have been on Humira for some time now and have no side effects to report .
I take an injection every week.

I just started humira and dont see any side effects.

Also tried remicade and entyvio and never saw any.
