I just refilled my generic Lialda and they switched me from Zydus to Shire brand generic Lialda. The stuff from Shire seems to have a harder coating that doesn't rub off when damp. The pill shape is the same as Lialda RX, more smooth and rounded. I interested to try it out because like some others here my switch to generic (Zydus) has just been OK. I cant find a whole lot of info on the Shire generic (Only a financial article about Zydus stock dropping because of competition in the Lialda generic market). But for those that have had some issues this might help, maybe....
Shire brand
is Lialda, not a generic.http://www.business-standard.com/article/companies/likely-competition-for-generic-lialda-bears-on-cadila-s-stocks-117091101241_1.html
Shire actually has a authorized generic for Lialda. After reading, its basically the RX drug at generic prices. I didn't know this was possible.
an excerpt from the article linked above, "However, the market is now abuzz that the innovator company Shire Plc is gearing up to launch an AG version of the drug in the US market soon which would eat into Zydus's market share"
This authorized generic should work better and is affordable. The question is will it be difficult to get. It seems as though its a best kept secret in the industry.
