I wasn’t able to try this because it wasn’t out yet for mainstream use, but my doc said it has some awesome potential to change how UC is treated. He’s one of the best docs in our state and for him to give it a thumbs up is a big deal!
Interesting. my GI was not so positive about
it. There's a trial at the hospital here and she told me all the patients she sent into the trial who were refractory to the other biologics, entyvio/remicade, didn't have any response to xeljanz. I didn't bother with it for that reason, but I am very happy to be done with it all, the expenses, the time, the unpredictability, pumping the drugs into my body... ultimately surgery has been a better solution for me. It's not for everyone, but for me, I think it was the right thing, even if xeljanz would have saved my colon, i'd prefer to be without the drugs, reduced immunity and expenses. Maybe it will be some kind of magic bullet, definitely for some, but my GI painted a bleak picture for my particular case.
