"Ozone" smell related to disease activity?

This may sound completely off the wall to many of you, but I was just wondering if any other sufferers get this happening to them:  When my UC is starting to flare up a bit, I usually will be able to "smell" an ozone like smell simialr to what one can smell around alot of electrical equipment, but in this case it is a "smell" noone but me can sense, as it is internal to my body. 

I assume it is in some way related to microscopic changes in the vascularity of blood vessels etc in response to inflammation, which is why I do believe all those studies on the blood vessels, nitric oxide, etc etc are one component worth looking at in this complex disease (along with the hygiene hypothesis, gut flora, etc etc). But since I know this "smell" is very real to me, I was just wondering if this is true for anyone else.

You're not alone, I've made posts about this before and it seemed as though I was the only one with this problem. It took a while for me to realize that the inflammation on my colon is very low down, which may explain the smell/odor in my case. It's hard for me to explain the smell, but I know it's due to inflammation and it gets much worse and noticeable during flares, which is embarrassing.

I've actually noticed what I would describe as a latex smell. Very strange. I can only assume it has to do with the imbalance in my colon and the incomplete digestion of foods.

Thanks for the quick replies! My smell is something internal to me, that is, it is not a smell I actually exude but rather, something in the changed vascularity of my blood vessels during flaring allows me to personally "smell" this sort of electrical ozony smell, probably due to the vascular changes affecting my olfactory nerves as well. So it's not like I am actually making an odor. But it seems as if many of us have very unique little things we can sense.

You know, now that you mention it......I do get an odd smell in my nose when I'm flaring - a sort of hard to describe smell and since I was in remission, that smell was gone. I never thought much about it. How odd....

I also noticed a weird smell when I was flaring really bad in March. I don't know if it smelled like "ozone" though (not sure what that smells like), but it smelled bad and no one else I asked could smell it. I kept thinking it was coming from my heater or my apartment somewhere, but when my dad visited he couldn't smell it. I wondered if it was just really bad breath that I was smelling, but I don't think it went away after brushing my teeth. Then, I thought maybe I was smelling the ulcers/blood from my colon up through my mouth/nose since the whole GI tract is connected, but I don't know if that even makes sense or is possible. As soon as I started healing, I know longer smelled it.

Anyone out there still about this topic?
@Probiotic - you explained If Perfectly in what I’m dealing with. I hope you get alerted and have more information.

I did go through a stress period .. lead to depression and fear.
Then i got this brain melting feeling when I breathed in. It’s like breathing in vapor. My sinuses even feel it. My nasal passage is also very sensitive .. like a slight pain high up.

Trying to understand how UC fits in, But looking at the symptoms.. I could have it. My stomach gut is always rigid and painful. I got blood in stool but i thought I’m sure it’s a hemroid...
