I am new to the forum.
Diagnosed with Proctitis 6 years ago. In April last year I started seeing blood again. In November I started getting pain. The pain is deep inside my hip. Seems more like pressure. I have never had pain in my rectum and struggle with constipation. Very rarely do I get diarrhea. When I was diagnosed at 40 I was never told anything about
how often to get screened. So here I am terrified. I went over 5 years with no obvious symptoms. Should I be scared this is cancer? I am trying to get a colonoscopy soon.
Is it normal to have a constant pressure type pain in the left hip with proctitis and no rectum pain. How about
constipation? What about
heartburn?
I am working on getting this looked at but I guess I just wanted to get some opinions and maybe help me relax for the next week until I get a scope.

You've not been on any meds? And if you have meds...what are you using?

I have never been on any meds. The first flare seemed to have gone away on its own. In a few
Months

Keep us posted as to the results of your scope. Do lots of research about
UC and make a list of questions to ask your doctor.
As well, have stool samples done possibly.
I suggest you get a cooy of your biopsies pathology results.

Thank you. Will do.
Did you have pain as a symptom? Was it rectum pain or left side pain?

Okay another question. This left sided pain I get seems to be so much worse when I sit. It's like a constant burning. It's not in my rectum but rather further to the left. Does that sound similar?

I have that left side pain but that is where my uc has always been. I've heard that uc can spread farther into the colon. Mine never did, always stayed on the left. Good to get a scope to see where you inflammation is currently.

left sided pain has been a problem for me since my original diagnosis of proctitis. That burning pain to the far left of my belly button has been there when I've had inflammation lower than the pain and again when higher. I've asked my doctor about
it many times and he never gave me an answer. I assume its gas pain or spasms although antispasmodics and gas x has never relieved it. Tylenol does not work either. The only thing that gets rid of it is decreasing the inflammation. I never had rectal pain either. I've had several sigmoidoscopes in the last year and a half and do not have cancer. I would not worry too much and it's good you are getting a scope so that you can figure out what medication you need to be on Lay on your left side with a heating pad as that help me as well.

Thank you all! This has been so comforting to hear. No one to talk to about
this disease. It isolates me so quickly and I get scared! But trying to keep from too much worry. This forum helps!! Thank you all
