Hey guys, so still fighting this flare. Started making my own Vit E enemas and still doing meslamine enemas as well, also taking 4.8g Asacol HD daily, with 10,000iu Vit D, 3 vsl#3, 3 l-glutamine 500mg, 1 biotin, 2 fish oil 1300mg, 1 selenium 200mg. In the past 3 days I've totally stopped animal protein, picked up vegan proetein powder mixed with almond milk, and eating baby food for carrots and squash. I had 2 days of bm's with no blood or mucous. Well just had a accident, what I thought was gonna be a slow fart, not so much. The first part of my bm is always explosive, and the rest kind of just slides out. The last bit of my Bm for the past 3 weeks, minus the past 2 days always has blood on it, but only at the end. It's usually a brighter red so I think rectum, but tonight it was a dark red, almost maroon but maybe not quite. Where do we think the problem is?

If there's only blood on the trailing tip then it means rectal bleeding. The friction of the BM
opened things up but only as the BM was finishing. The colour doesn't matter. Darker blood usually denotes there is stool mixed in with it. The only thing that matters is if it's black blood.
Explosive gas followed by bloody stool usually indicates incomplete fermentation of food. The gas gets trapped ahead of the putrid stool as the intestine contracts. When it's BM time the gas goes first then the stool. If there is gas behind the stool, the cause is the same, except the difference will be that the gas propels the stool forward so it exits faster.
Because incomplete fermentation is a likely cause of this kind of BM, you might want to re-examine what you're consuming. For me endless probiotic every day causes overgrowth and then I start getting putrid stools. Could be the vegan protein powder mixed with almond milk. I have to make my own almond milk or just not bother because the store bought stuff has gums or thickening agents in it. If your idea was to stop animal protein but then supplement with a protein powder, that's a bad idea. Protein powders are mostly garbage. Actually put in the effort to make real, whole food. Yes it's more time but your body will thank you. Protein powders = processed food.
L-glutamine will not build the intestinal wall unless you are in taking enough B vitamins. Otherwise it turns to glutamate which is actually irritating to the gut and is pro-inflammatory in the whole body.
I advise anyone with UC or IBD in general to not eat much raw veggies. They are hard to digest and full of irritating fiber. Plus if they're not cooked they are covered in bacteria that the body may not like. I almost always eat cooked veggies exclusively... even if it's just steaming them for 5 minutes. Honestly raw veggies are a recipe for watery diarrhea. Our GIs are just too weak to handle a lot of that.
Just some ideas.
