I was on a strictly healthy diet when I started to flare in September/October hardcore, and had lost about 20lbs intentionally. My MD and my nutritionist changed my diet once I got diagnosed to a low-residue/fiber diet, which is basically lean protein and a lot of low-fiber carbs. This diet makes me hungry all the time because it messes with my blood sugar and also is not fulfilling, so I find I am actually eating a lot more.
Usually, this type of high-carb diet would cause me to gain weight, however I have not gained any weight in the month and a half on this diet. I'm guessing that because I am ravenous on this diet, I am eating enough calories to sustain myself and account for the extra needed calories for my body to handle the inflammation (your body needs more energy when it is inflamed/sick). So yes, depending on what you're eating, and the severity of your symptoms, you may not lose weight.
