“Little inflammation.”

Hello, everyone.

I had a colonoscopy done 2 days ago, and the doctor called my wife with the results. He said the biopsies found nothing and I have a “little inflammation.”

What does that mean!? Is that normal? And only when inflammation reaches a certain extent and serverity does it become a Inflammatory Bowel Disease?

we can probably give you a better idea of what that means if you can get a copy of the scope report and convey the actual findings of said report -

in lieu of that, imo, it does not sound like a case of ulcerative colitis - there are numerous causes of "little inflammation" -

Yeah, I am 100% with you. If it were up to me I’d have the full report and would look into it via google search, and THEN post on a forum. But this information has been relayed to me by my wife whose number is set as the primary phone for some reason.

Bah.

At this point I’ve experienced lower back pain, joint pain, abdominal pain, rib pain, and mild eye pain. Some of those my wife has also been feeling, and we have just been found to have Vitamin D Deficiency. I’m starting to seriously believe that that is the cause of all our symptoms.

Some(folks and doctors) believe it is due to VDD, and some don’t.

where those visual or biopsy results?

you can have all the inflammation you want as long as it is acute and not chronic. IBD is chronic. Not severity or extent - but chronic inflammation that had distorted the cell structure of the lining of the colon.

just the scope prep can give mild inflammation.

Sounds like an oral description dummied down from the actual report. Need the actual text.

One can technically have "a little inflammation" seen as the direct result from the colonoscopy prep, which can cause minor, superficial redness and puffiness. Best guess *shrug*

So...biopsy results already after 2 days? Wow...

Call the doc's offics and say you will pick up a copy of those results. The doc's office should never have given the results to you wife, regardless..

Keep us posted. Not a cause from VDD...you have UC, right?

Okay, so I finally got in contact with my doctor and got some clarification.

The “little inflammation” was in the stomach, and nothing was found in the colon. All biopsies on all sides came back negative.

He updated me on my ultrasound and that came back fine except for Fatty Liver. Hope that is reversible.

Phew, TinyTom, looks like you dodged a bullet. Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver is definitely reversible with weight loss. May it be the worst of your problems!

No, they didn’t prescribe me anything.

I have a pain medication that is given to those who cannot take ibuprofen because of lining issues... and it starts with an “H” or “Hy.” Idk.

I am concerned. Should these guys be giving prescriptions?
