I have some form of mild colitis and have been prescribed Uceris for a flare up. I've found that I'm often very thirsty since starting the Uceris, anyone else have this experience?

That can be a side effect of uceris, it will go away when you stop taking the medication. Hope it gets your flare cleared up!

Thanks, that's what I thought. So Uceris is a temporary solution. The thirst doesn't indicate any long term serious side effects, then?

Yes uceris is a temporary solution since it is a steroid. The thirst doesn’t indicate any long term effects, uceris is a more “safe” steroid compared to prednisone, if that makes sense.

If thirst is the only side effect you have then that's very mild and not at all troubling! Steroids temporarily raise our blood sugar levels and that might make you thirsty.
In fact Uceris and Prednisone are also known as glucocorticoids with the "glucose" bit (meaning sugar) referring to the effect on our blood sugar levels. If you get any blood work done while on Uceris then expect your numbers to be a bit wacky as a consequence thereof.

how long have you had this and what other meds have you taken or are currently taking ?

I haven't experienced increased thirst on Uceris and it's not listed as a typical side effect. I would put in a call to your doctor's nurse just to be on the safe side.

^^ it’s listed as an uncommon side effect, thirst can happen when on steroids because of what ipoop said. If you are truly worried about
it give your doc a call but I am always thirsty when on steroids and always goes away when I stop them.
