Since surgery, my feelings like this no longer surface. Sure there are days I think uggh, toilet, but it's definitely never as bothersome as living with UC was for me. I am in and out in moments. Last night I definitely ate something bad though, I got up in the middle of night with the sweats and horrible D. OMG, I cursed the person who served me that food. You shouldn't rush, but surgery would help heal that abscess, and since you're in such agony from it, you could use that miserable time, as healing time between steps. The problem is that you probably still need quite a few tests to visualize your upper, and you need to consult and find the right surgeon. Don't hate your body, and don't give up. There is definitely life after surgery, life free of UC and drugs. I still have butt troubles, but they are handled with a smidge of cream on the butt.
When I was in the recovery room from my abscess surgery, a man in the room had an ostomy and it was farting sooo loud... like every 5 minutes. Is it always that way?You mean the ostomy was making noise? They can be noisy, especially early on, but generally, no, it's not noisy all the time. You can muffle the noise by putting something over it. That said, it was one of the things I disliked about
having an ostomy. Imagine being in a silent room and a strange sound comes from the ostomy? Usually, the sounds are more like stomach upset vs a fart, so people wouldn't think it was a fart but still, who wants to explain why they are making involuntary noises.
