It sounds like a permanent ostomy is a good choice for you, and I’m glad you’ve found something you can be at peace with!
I have my last j-pouch surgery in June, and then I’ll be ready to get on with my life.

Entyvio put me in remission. So that's the good news. Last Sept my routine colonoscopy showed no visual inflammation but one area of microscopic active colitis. -- and one sample with some abnormal cells. So we did a repeat in February with a blue dye and there were 7 polyps found. Two of those were pre-cancerous. The plan is another scoping in 6 months and we'll go from there.

My colon hates me! Eventually it will probably get its wish and get removed. Trying to wrap my head around that and mentally preparing myself so am especially glad to hear you've adjusted well to your colostomy!

I love your post. I have been enjoying the strawberries too and I feel like I haven't in forever. I am wishing you luck in getting pregnant and living life. Don't feel bad for being happy, that's all I've ever wished for you. I do miss seeing you, but your post is so much more than I could have hoped for. I know an ostomy isn't what anyone wishes for, but you're the perfect example of how you can live a full life with one. You are an inspiration. How was your scope? Are you consideirng the closure? Are you considering a pouch at all? I don't think I would if i had perianal disease but who knows, I am sure some people do well. To be honest, the jpouch is a bit like the ostomy. You go to the bathroom probably the same # of times, you just don't wear any appliance.

Update:
I've been working really hard to get healthy and back in shape since my colectomy in Oct. '17. I cannot believe it's been 9 months already! As I previously wrote, the hardest part of the healing process was weaning off the darn prednisone.
A couple months ago I signed up for a "fatloss program" and in 8 weeks time I lost 15lbs and won the competition--I was so proud!
Then my family just took a vacation to Hawaii and I found out...I'M PREGNANT!!!
Crazy right?
At one point during this thread I thought my life was over, that I'd never be well again, that I would never be able to workout again, and that I'd never have another child.
I'm so glad I was wrong! Surgery gave me back my life! Life is GOOD with an ostomy ❤❤

Just checking in--Saturday October 6th is "World Ostomy Day"--so Happy World Ostomy Day! I will be celebrating my 1 year "stomaversary" (the anniversarybof my total colectomy) on Oct. 17th! I cannot believe it's been a year! Everything is going well for me--I'm now 17 weeks pregnant and expecting a baby girl in March ❤ I'm med-free and pain-free. Hope everyone is doing well! Or if you're not, I hope my thread might help you feel optimistic about surgery. I'll take being an ostomate over being chronically ill any day of the week!
