Qing-Dae for UC-D?

I’ve read several posts about Qing-Dae but no one has specified if it helped them with UC-D versus UC-C? Has it helped anyone that has UC-D?

What's the difference?

It helped me with universal pancolitis, after 10 years of diagnosis. Like everything else (including medication) it's not a one size fits all, it may or may not work, you just have to try it and stick with it for a while.

From what I remember, there was not enough science to fully understand it with high certainty. Only a handful of studies though with intriguing results. It was suggested to have macrophage mechanisms and hydroxl scavenging. There isn't a ton of information but it sounds like it's worth looking into although I don't know about any transit time effects though would help determine d vs c effectiveness.

Never heard of UC-C or UC-D... the -D and -C are IBS terms, a totally different disease.

Qing Dai does work on UC inflammation most of the time. There are lots of people who swear by it. The last time I tried it I was taking one gram of the dried powdered extract twice a day. I put it into gel caps because it just doesn't dissolve in water that well. I found that if I took anymore than that, I would get really nauseous which they say is an overdose sign. I have known people who took two or three times the amount I did though. Maybe it just depends on the person how much you should be taking.

The downside is that it just suppresses symptoms. As soon as you stop taking it the inflammation comes right back.

Yeah I may have accidentally made up those terms in my head as UC can have diarrhea or constipation and I'm researching mechanisms related to both of those categories. I feel transit issues are a contributing factor as much as they can be a symptom.

I can understand everyone’s fear regarding Qing dai, but I am using it now for about a year now - I take a quarter of a teaspoon in the morning before breakfast and the same before dinner. I felt that all the different meds I have tried all had troubling side effects (on me) and never worked. This herb has been used in China for thousands of years. I can say that within two weeks of starting Qing dai, my inflammation disappeared and if I keep to a diet that works for me (no ruffage, fried foods etc.) I have no urgency, no blood , no mucus. I feel healthier then I felt in years.

Glad you're feeling better, just make sure the inflammation is truly gone through regular screenings with your gasteroenteroligist (colonoscopy, flexible-sigmoidoscopy, CRP blood tet, FCP stool test, etc.). As some things might just firm-up/slowdown stool without actually fixing the underlying inflammation problem.
