Oily (?) stool

I’ve been noticing lately that after a morning BM that there are floating fatty deposits in the toilet. Obviously I am not a doctor and not entirely sure what it is, but it literally looks like those oily patches that show up in gravy.. for lack of a better description. It doesn’t sound like steatorrhea (just based on my googling). Colour of BMS is not pale, it’s generally a dark brownish green colour. Help! Any ideas what this is and whether I should be conce?

Hi, yes, but the prednisone dosage has gone down. I’ve tapered down to 10mg.

Thanks so much for weighing in. This is all new to me and my doctor gave me almost no guidance— basically just wrote a bunch of scripts, gave me a requisition for follow-up bloodwork, and told me to book an appointment with her in April. I’m still tying to figure out what’s normal (for me) and when I should be concerned.

Could it be blobs of mucus?

I don’t know. My only previous experience with noticeable amounts of mucus also involved a lot of blood and would make all the toilet water red/pink. I was never able to really identify mucus alone.

The “oil” blobs that float on the surface of the toilet water right now are individually very small. I’d say smaller than a pencil eraser.
