My solution is to just stay away from lots of insoluble fiber which aggravates my gut, causing multiple BM's. I don't take any fiber pills but years ago the only one tolerated was Citrucell (only recently available generic). But only the pill Citrucell cuz the other versions (flavored or chewable, for example) had ingredients that made things worse.
A big help is eating resistant starch, which is not herbal I know, but is natural and so easy to do. I love potatoes so that's easy daily and rice pasta is also easy to make in the morning. I add chicken broth and a little cooked spinach. Spinach is another good friend. I cook up a large batch once a week and freeze servings to pull out and use.
Recently someone (Old Mike?) brought up studies that said cloves could be beneficial. My gut hates ground herbs so I got some organic cloves and made clove tea and tried it just a spoonful at a time. No gut rejection and it seems to allow me to eat/drink more things that are normally "iffy". I've tried chai tea in past, which has cloves, but there is something in chai not totally OK with my gut, maybe black pepper.
My best answer to you is to find the foods your gut hates and limit them, find foods your gut has trouble processing and limit them. That has been my answer. In the beginning there were sooooo many problem foods but things get better all the time. Listen to your gut, it will show you what to do.
