Moon Face While on Uceris

Has anyone had prednisone-like side effects while on Uceris? My doc said I would not get the same side effects while on Uceris, but I have moon face, fluid retention, racing heart, etc. I guess maybe I am just super sensitive to steroids. Wondering if I am the only one. If anyone has had it, did the moon face go away faster once you were off the medication? I am also worried about stopping this cold turkey.

Uceris is still a steroid and you can experience pred side effects on it. Yes, some are more sensitive then others are.

I hate that you're on a steroid, but uceris is a lot better than pred in my opinion. How are you doing? Moon face aside... that's temporary. Most importantly is that you get yourself back to 100%. Are you going to start a biologic? or try changing your 6mp dose?

Thank you for the responses - I really appreciate it. It is helping some, although the last couple of days I haven't felt as well and am terrified I might be backsliding, as I had some pain and my stool was a little softer. I guess time will tell if it is just a blip/something that didn't agree with me versus going backwards. I am also wondering if when I come off it if I should do an every other day type of thing versus cold turkey. The dr had said you just come off of it, and as great as that sounds, it worries me that I will just flare all over again. Adventureuc, do you stop it cold turkey with success, or do you do an every other day dose as a precaution? notsosicklygirl, I am on oral mesalamine and rectal. I am not on 6mp. Wondering if I should consider starting it up again....what do you think?

about a month ago I made the switch from pred to uceris/budesonide because I was having a really hard time with the pred side effects, especially the mood related ones. My face is still chubby, I still want to eat everything in sight and have awful acne (but still less bad than pred), but I haven’t gained too much more weight— seems to be holding steady (~7-10 lbs more than when I started on steroids in Mar).

Once I was down to about 15 mg of pred I started to backslide. Uceris has never given me the kind of relief that 35 mg of pred did. I feel exactly as you described with uceris— helps some but still not feeling great. Yesterday evening I spent about an hour in the bathroom with many soft BMs (though not d) and pain that was maybe a 3-4 . Sigh. I’m currently being tapered off so we’ll see how that goes.
