Colonoscopy results and pain afterwards

I had today a colonoscopy, about two years after the first one that diagnosed me with left-sided UC.
I decided to anticipate it because I have been having abdominal pain, loose stools and bloating every now and then during the past few months.

The colonoscopy reached the ileum and the report I was given is extremely concise...It just states that "No mucosal lesions were observed throughout the colon. Multiple biopsies performed. Conclusions: quiescent ulcerative colitis (Mayo score 0)."
I would have appreciated a couple of words more, but that's it, at least until I get the hystological report.

Since I woke up from the scope, I am having abdominal pain and cramping, which seemed to be temporarily relieve if I pass air (and I am passing lots of it...), but still the pain is there after more than 12 hours. Also, when passing air on the toilet, I am having BMs with a small amount of liquid and blood mixed.
No fever or anything else.

Is all this normal? Or should I be worried that there complications (not mentioned by the doctor) or is it even possible that the c-scope messed up with my UC?

Or am I just worrying too much?

Biopsies can cause some bleeding for a few days. Gas pain can be severe after scopes. I have also had scopes mess with my UC though. Keep an eye on it and see if your symptoms persist longer than 2-3 days. If they do or anything gets worse, call your doctor. What did your scope results show?

The results showed no mucosal lesions nor any inflammation, Mayo score 0. That is why I was concerned about the pain and blood and hope it's just due to the procedure itself.

Sounds normal to me. Make sure to take it easy after a scope, and fart away! They fill you up with air during the procedure, which can make things sore as a result.

Any medical procedure carries the risk of its own "damage", but for people with UC, a scope is a necessary evil to diagnose your condition. As long as you trust your GI doc to have your best interests in mind, then no need to worry.

Congrats, quiescent (aka dorment/deeply-quiet) Mayo score of zero is a remission my friend. An A+ score. I tried to give you a high-five but nearly knocked my monitor off of my desk. Biopsies should confirm.

100% normal to have an upset syatem for 2-3 days post-colonoscopy as the procedure, prep, and biopsies are invasive. Colonoscopy injects air in the bowel to see ahead which can leave you gassy and with mild discomfort until it is passed.

Awesome scope report!

The symptoms of discomfort are from the gas/air and the scope in general ....that can cause spasming and cramping. The bleeding is from the biopsies and can last for a few days.

Start eating to get your colon moving, even out peristalsis and empty the gas.

You could call and ask your doc for an antispasmodic.
