Hi,

I had my first inflectra (infliximab) infusion last week and was just wondering if anyone else has had this as a treatment for UC? I've seen a few threads on people's experiences of remicade but none on inflectra and was just curious as to what other people's experiences of it were like as I'm not really sure what to expect from it.

Interesting, I've heard about generic (that is biosimilar) biologic medications but didn't know they are available already. Looks like it's only available in the European union (not for us in canada or usa).

"Hospira's Inflectra(TM) (infliximab) the first biosimilar monoclonal antibody to be approved in Europe."

For all intensive purposes, Inflectra and Remicade should work the same, as they're both infliximab only with a slightly different protein structure (equivalent but slightly different, biosimilar).

I'm not sure how long it's been available, but I am guessing it's fairly recent, which likely means not a lot have tried it yet? A guess.

I thought they'd probably work roughly the same, just wasn't too sure!

And yes, it's not been available in the UK (where I'm based) for very long so you're probably right when you say that not a lot have tried it yet, just wondered if anyone was a bit further along with their treatment than I am and had any words of wisdom to share! :)

Hi, just came here to say that I had my first infusion of Inflectra on Thursday.

I was really nervous as there are about a million side effects but thankfully I’ve not experienced any of them.

I must say that even after 2 days I do feel better. My major issue was bleeding, I’ve been bleeding heavy since October and severely anaemic. This morning I managed to go to the shop at 7am confidently which I haven’t been able to for months.

I’m really hoping this is the beginning of the end (until next time of course).

I have my next infusion in just under 2 weeks.

I am currrntly still on pred (25mg) tapering. Last time I tapered all my symptoms came back so fingers crossed that this time I’m ok.

I really want to book to take my little boy go karting which wouldn’t have even been a thought a few weeks back so it’s exciting times.

I have been doing Inflectra Infusions since December after Humira stopped working for me. It is working okay for my Ulcerative Colitis, but I now have terrible joint pain. I started weekly Methotrexate injections for the joints two weeks ago.

Last Thursday at my Inflectra Infusion I developed hives and had to have steroids and Benadryl infused into me to stop the reaction. My G.I. doctor says it is my over-active Autoimmune system starting to reject the Inflectra. Overall the Inflectra has been okay for my Colitis but for joints and muscle pain it has done nothing even though I know it is used to treat R.A.

Not sure what happens next if I have to go off it as I am not sure what is left for me to try!!! I definitely like it better than the Humira which always gave me a "fog day" after injecting it. Haven't had those problems with the Inflectra at all.

Sounds like you've developed antibodies to inflectra...

What other biologics have you tried? There's entyvio, remicade, humira, simponi, and xeljanz. Soon stelara once approved...
