Old Mike, I read the paper in your post. Very technical stuff, but very interesting. Thanks for posting that.
To uniform Charlie and PharmacistWithUC, this is what I do:
I generally buy my Turmeric in bulk on Amazon, but I have also purchased it at Whole Foods and Trader Joe's with success. If you search 'Bulk Turmeric' on Amazon, a variety will come up and really all of them seem to work similarly I believe... Starwest, Spicy World, Frontier, Anthony's Organic, and several others. I have bought several, depending on the deal. I have had success with both Organic and Non-organic. But this is real turmeric spice, not supplement.
I generally buy my Olive Oil from Costco, Kirkland brand, Extra Virgin Organic, but I would imagine any Extra Virgin Organic would be fine.
And pepper is really any pepper, but it should be black peppercorns, that you grind from what I have read.
And the way I take it:
~ 6oz warm water
~ 1 tsp turmeric
~ 1-2 tsp olive oil
~ 15 or more turns of ground pepper
In any case, I hope it helps. As with anything, it's not for everyone. Some people have issues with Turmeric. But if you google health benefits of Turmeric, there are many. And I don't feel like it's overly risky since it is food we are talking about
. I think I read somewhere that the average person from India eats about
1 tsp of Turmeric per day. Just my 2 cents with my experience. I am no doctor.
