My directions say I can quit when it is clear or yellowish liquid. I am sure you are fine. That is crazy fast it only took two goes.

I poured out half of my GoLytely when the nurses left the room when I was hospitalized in 2016...lol.

Well I dont want to mess it up :/ I don't have insurance so this is a one shot big deal thing. but I can't even imagine what could come out further at this point. If I drink water I get a pee/butt pee combo. Been nothing but liquid for a long long time. I wish my GI ad a help line. I'm still up, painful hunger growling isnt letting me sleep.

Sounds like you're running clear, and that's good. I'd continue following the prep directions, if you have to take more before the scope.

Yeah, I'm not saying you shouldn't drink it, but that's just what I do when I am so sick that I literally cannot choke anymore of it down. And I've never had an issue not being cleaned out. Good luck today!

I definitely took the second dose and that was the very worst part of the whole experience, choking that down with growling stomach and waaay too much liquid. A rough go this morning. My GI came and told my husband before I woke up that I had a perfectly healthy colon with not a problem in sight. He said that I likely got sick from the antibiotic and got too scared to properly reintroduce healthy foods. I don't know about that honestly. The reason I stick to a bland potato-y diet is because when I try to eat something different it's hell. Anyway, mixed feelings here. Happy I don't have something super dangerous but I do know I am very sick and I still don't know why. Thanks for talking me through this everyone, you guys are great.

the second dose was worse for me too! i got a little nausea and my stomach noises would not stop but im happy to hear your results came back good! thats exactly what happened to me my g i doctor told my wife everything looked fine and normal before i even woke up and told her they took microscopic biopsies to look for micro colitis but he told her he doubts hell find anything which made me feel a little better but im a huge hypochondriac and my mind is telling me they will find something , i am better though mentally and i still have only some of my symptoms than i was before my colonoscopy im eating some of my old favorite foods and i had black coffee for the first time in 4 months! but i cant 100% move on yet till i get these results , and i am sorry to hear your still sick what do you think it is ? what kinda symtoms are you feeling? do you think it could just be anxiety ?

Some of it is anxiety I am sure. I'm a little worried about how I feel after all of the things at the hospital. She had me take breathes after the procedure. I only had IV sedation and oxygen in my nose but I felt like I would lose my breath at the end of the deep breaths and cough. She said that was normal, but to be honest I'm feeling a bit like my breaths are still sort of shallow now 12 hours later. I also just had blood in my stool, I've read on here that can happen, there was a tiny clot on my toilet paper too. I'm a hypochondriac too so I'm trying hard not to just run to the hospital and wait for the GI to open to follow up, but it's 3am and they don't open until 9 so I'm just spinning my wheels. So ready to close this chapter of my life.

That's great news you don't have IBD! When did you take antibiotics? Hope things get back to normal for you soon.

iPoop, I don't think the entire illness could possibly be anxiety only. I've had a sensitive stomach for many years linked to stress and this has been entirely different. Life would be going great and I'd eat the wrong thing (such as green beans from cracker barrel) and end up on the toilet all day in absolute agony, internal cramping so bad I couldn't walk etc. Something is happening, it's just hard to say what. Thanks Sara! I took clindamycin 6 months ago, I got sick right away and never got better. The GI thinks I healed from it at some point and now my diet is perpetuating the sickness. I guess I have to go with what he thinks.

Well, if you don't get better, keep persisting in finding answers. Perhaps even seek a second opinion if you don't improve quickly. They did do stool samples to rule out infectious causes, right? Although if you had infectious colitis, that would have shown up in the scope, too. Very frustrating when you are suffering and doctors cannot find the cause. A year-and-a-half before I got UC, I suffered from severe unexplainable lower back and abdominal pain. I got a CT scan, and ultrasound and bloodwork done and everything came back normal. After a few months, it went away. I kind of wonder now if it was UC, but I had no other symptoms besides pain. It was very frustrating that the doctors could not find out what was wrong. I was in college at the time and the college health center nurse kept insinuating that I had an eating disorder! I wonder if maybe you have IBS. There are anti-spasm medicines available that could help that (Bentyl, Donnatel, and some others).

I appreciate the advice, Sara. I had a stool sample and they did test for c-diff but I believe that's all that was tested for. I too have had a CT scan and ultrasound, the only thing I havent had is an endoscopy, which I'd like to escape if possible. I think I at minimum have IBS, I also think that the antibiotic threw off my gut flora. I am on bentyl, although I do feel a bit better since the prep oddly. I havent taken any meds since leaving, although I am having some side cramping. They did biopsies so I will wait for those results. Do you bleed after your scopes? I was having a dot of blood when I peed, and then yesterday when I went for the first time blood in the bowl and a tiny clot on the toilet paper. Since then no spots but I havent had stool again. I'm waiting for my GI to call today, could have been from hemorrhoids though.

I can't remember if I bleed after my scopes when I'm in remission. I'm getting one Monday so I can let you know next week, ha. I know it's normal to though. A lot of times when I get scoped, I'm flaring and already bleeding. I've never had an endoscopy.

To rant a bit and then I promise I will let this thread die, especially since I don't have UC afterall. My GI has been pretty terrible about informing me of anything. I was told by the nurse afterward “he said just swing by if you want to follow up no need to make an appointment”. This didn't sound that weird to me, I'm a freelancer without insurance and trying to finish grad school so sometimes doctors take pity on me and let me follow up for free. Especially since his rate is 300 freaking dollars, the most expensive co-pay I've had. I've called and the first woman said the info should be on the pictures of my colon. I didn't get anything like that, I'm positive. I asked the nurse today if the bleeding was normal, if it was because of the biopsies. She said I probably didn't have any because everything looked normal. I just want to know what happened to my own body and I'm getting extremely frustrated. I was told beforehand there were going to be biopsies. Anyway I'm sorry to post again, but my family cant really relate to how frustrating this entire thing has been.

I was told they always do biopsies even if everything looks normal for precaution and to look for microscopic colitis , I was the same the doctor didn’t even wait for me to wake up he told my wife everything “his colon looks normal every thing is fine we took biopsies to check for micro colotis but I doubt anything will come up “ gave me my pictures of my colon and left he didn’t even ask to see if I wanted to schedule a follow up appointment I had to calll an ask what that was about , apparently they were going to mail something to me asking if I wanted too but I don’t see why they couldn’t just call I still have some symptoms as well but I only want to make the appointment if the biopsies find something because I too don’t have insurance and it’s expensive so they will call me with my results in a week . I hope my biopsies come back normal so I can 100% move on from this scare . As for the blood I had biopsies and didn’t have any blood with my BM but I hear it’s common . do you still have blood often with your BM along with other symptoms ? I’m sorry that your struggling still I understand how you feel nobody I knew could relate either I hope you get to the bottom of this and are able to move on!

Borb, So weird! You think they could take 5 seconds to discuss your situation with you. She said the scope probably caused some irritation, I was told before I left by the same less than awesome nurse “some blood might be normal”. Throughout the day id pee and get a spot of blood, tiny, from my butt. But when I went number 2 it was you know a red toilet bowl. Not extreme but... some. I'm not freebleeding or anything like that, but I haven't had another stool yet and I don't know what will happen. And no I don't often have blood, only two occasions since being sick so I've come to the conclusion it's hemorrhoids. Might be now too, but I'm scared of what itll look like next time I go. I've also had a really tender to the touch chest and some shallow breathing. Nurse just said “if it persists call back”. You really get to know how little these people give af when this stuff happens. I hope that for you as well, I'm feeling for the folks here with UC, if this is only IBS I cant imagine.

Did they take take biopsies during your colonoscopy? Every one on this forum has been so helpful I’m beyond grateful. I’ll keep you updated when I get my biopsies results! Some of the vets here think I likely have IBS Because I don’t have blood with my BM. I’ve had some of Your symptoms before shallow breathing ,tender chest . I got x Ray and ct scan done on my chest alone with blood work they didn’t find anything so I was diagnosed with anxiety . I apologize if I’m making this thread longer then you wanted it I don’t know we’re else to chat on this forum

Thanks! Again, I wouldn't worry about a tiny amount of blood. Totally normal after a colonoscopy. Be thankful you don't have UC. smile

No no I really like talking to people here I just don't want to overdo it since I didnt end up having UC. I know some websites get pretty serious about posting in the right right area. That's the thing they told me beforehand they were gonna take biopsies and then when I called she said she didn't think they had because it looked normal. So I don't even know what happened. I do know my husband over seasoned some chicken last night and today I'm in a world of pain again. So much for convincing myself nothing it wrong. Wow! I know I get a clenchy throat from anxiety but I didn't know about the tender chest thing.

Try doing a food journal to see what kind of foods trigger your stomach symptoms also I hear exercise is good for the digestive system.Anxiety can do so much to the body more then we know ! , my colonoscopy was normal too but for some reason my mind is still convinced that the biopsies will find IBD even though the GI said it’s not likely ugh I just went to be able to move on from this 🙁

It sounds like IBS. Might have to watch what you eat. The nurse probably was unaware if they took biopsies or not. I've never not had biopsies taken.

You guys were talking about being cold while prepping. Im prepping right now and am so cold Im shivering and it is 80 degrees in the house, I have fleece pajama pants on and just put a long sleeved shirt and hoodie on.
