It's interesting, but I always thought strawberries were bad for people experiencing symptoms? I had to stop eating strawberries because of how they made me feel worse. Or is this study saying when in remission, strawberries could help prevent inflammation from returning?

I too don't eat many strawberries, one or two will cause no problems. But thought the article was interesting.
Today's store-bought strawberries in my opinion are tasteless, large objects that bear no resemblance to the strawberries I picked as a child in the "pick your own" field. Those were smaller, tastier and easily bruised, the better to make strawberry shortcake.
The same can be said of tomatoes which have been hybridized for ship-ability and longevity on the shelf.
Who knows what healthy plant genes have been suppressed in modern edible plants. End of rant.

Darn.... it's just outside of strawberry season here. For the fresh stuff anyway. I love them - never thought much about
how they effected me, but I know I can eat oodles of them without issue.
Something else to add to the good foods list.

I love fresh strawberries! We usually buy a flat of them and freeze them. Somehow I missed strawberry picking this year.

Strawberries are high in histamine and I can't tolerate them one bit while I'm flaring, even if the flare is 90% better. I have to be in full remission and healed to consume them. If I ignore my own rules about
it, I bleed.
People who are flaring are already on histamine overload. I can't support the findings of this study. There has to be a flaw in their logic or methods. It just doesn't correspond to my experience at all.

In UC or IBD there different contributing factors that can cause the disease. Genetics, bacteria, food, chemicals, many combinations that can put you over the edge.
This study was on DSS mice where the IBD was caused by the DSS chemical. On the plus side, the uniform cause of the IBD in the mice means more consistency for more accurate readings on the benefits especially with control mice present. However, DSS from what I hear is not the closest to simulating the immune response we have to deal with, nor will it account for all the possible inflammatory profiles in IBD. That said, this study was a stepping stone. They sound like they are planning human studies which will be much more accurate.
My guess is, like most food cures, this will show benefits to only a percentage of IBD patients similar to any food or prebiotic thus far. It doesn't have anything eye popping yet but I'm only guessing off an article.

I eat a cup of strawberries every day. Doesn't bother me at all.

Couple problems with DSS induced colitis.
If you take away the DSS the mice/rats get better we don't
Just about
everything you can think of seems to curtail the DSS symptoms.
