OM, I know how it feels to deal with the inhumane, rude and arrogant ignorance of the whole medical system, and the feelings of helplessness as a patient, though I don't know how it feels as a father. I had a colectomy two years ago and living with a stoma is not fun...
Olive leaf extract might increase NO levels, be careful.

Anyway, If you could find a likeable doctor, taking 5-ASA (rectal/oral) might help a lot as a chemopreventive. Might even help your UC.
