Hi, all, I have been a member since 2012, I believe when I first was diagnosed. I found a great doctor in 2016 who I attribute to keeping me in remission now. I currently am taking 9 balsalazide pills a day and sometimes canasa suppositories at night.

Well I noticed that in December 2018, the canasa suppositories supposedly went generic and I have been trying to get my pharmacy to get them in (I live in Massachusetts), but it has been probably a month and they still have not received them. Is anyone else going to the same problem? I prefer to get the generic version because it is only $10 a month under my insurance as opposed to $50. Just curious if I should wait for the generic, I do have some Canasa still. I don't know if it is that particular pharmacy or maybe go elsewhere.

It's new so availability might be spotty. I would ask your local pharmacy, I would ask the mail-order pharmacy from your insurance policy, as often the larger nationwide pharmacies have better access to things. '

Do you have the pharmacy codes for it? That might make it easier to have your local pharmacy look it up. See below:

Sure no problem! I know first-hand how much UC totally sucks and how much we struggle with pharmacies, insurance, doctors, etc etc. If I helped someone smile, have discussion points ready for their next doctor's appointment, or have hope going forward then I'll chalk that up as a success smile

Interesting information about Canasa now having a generic version ...
I just got a refill of Canasa and was wondering why the price went from $250 to $20 under my prescription plan.
Putting two and two together, I assume the makers of Canasa lowered the price because of the presence of a generic version.
