Pouchoscopy and hernia surgery on Thursday

Well 3 surgeries down and one to go.Dr will do pouchoscopy before hernia surgery.On paper from Ins Comp it details what Drs are doing Thursday.Muscle skin graft-???Trunk????Implant bio implant for soft tissue????enterolysis????Freeing of bowel adhesion??? Theres others but i understand wording.I didn't go to Med school so i don't understand above.Will they do skin graft over hernia area???

Where is iPoop.. he's good are turning technical lingo into something readable by the masses! I can't believe Thursday is the day. I am happy you're doing so well with your pouch and that your journey is almost complete.

I know freeing of adhesion means that if anything was tacky and stuck together or formed scar tissue that's causing issues, they will release it. I don't think you have this though, it's not like you've had recurrent obstructions or anything that would lead to that conclusion. It's always a possibility when they open people up though, especially people who have had past abdominal surgeries

good luck! hope all goes well, keep us posted.

Looks like they will either use your own tissue or some synthetic something to close the hernia and remove any scar tissue that has developed that could be causing you problems.

NSSG my Colorectal surgeon Dr Shukla said Plastic Surgeon will kind of be in charge of hernia surgery Dr Shukla will do pouchoscopy and assist PS to make sure bowel is in correct spot etc during surgery. I have been lucky to not have any long term issue directly connected to colon surgery. Hopeing this surgery goes as well as other 3

Haha I'm flattered. Unfortunately I am not as familiar with the medical jargon regarding hernias and the surgery you are having 3timechamp (just colonoscopy and biopsy terms for UC).

Usually if you google each term individually you get a good idea of the meaning. Add each of those definitions together and you get a good understanding of the whole procedure. Certainly do not be afraid to ask your doctor or surgeon what they're doing and why.

Im bringing paperwork in with me so they can explain all.After first surgery i thought i would have small horizontal incisions below belly button. Dr used my old spleen incision which is total height of my stomach,so that was quite a surprise seeing all those shiny staples[42 of them].He used same incision for 2nd surgery.Bigger the incision the longer the recovery-waiting for incisions to heal was tough.He explained why he did it at least

Keith don't want to hijack Vallis post so only clear liquids today.Thats the only prep.Hope they give me an early time tomorrow so i don't sit around waiting/feeling weak etc.Hope for the best

I hope that everything goes really smoothly for you.

Will you have to stay overnight? Or until you empty your pouch? I’d insist upon that, they wanted to release me the next day and I hadn’t emptied my pouch yet. I told them that I didn’t feel well enough to leave and 12 hours later I was vomiting from ileus. I probably had stronger anesthesia then you’re getting.

Run don't say that,i don't like sitting still.2-3 weeks off should be good.Keith Dr said 1-3 days.Im thinking 1 day if no complications.Only clear liquids today,i haven't had a BM yet today so should be empty by tomorrow.NYP nurse just called-12:30 check in-2:00 pouch/surgery.Hope for best

I'm with you man! I think the sitting around part of recovery was one of my biggest challenges! I got so sick of bingewatching lame TV. Just think, you've done it before, you can do it again. Just don't overdue it - Especially hard to resist in the construction industry.

Yea I have a lot of exterior work lined up. So aiming for April 1 to get going again. Other thing with being home is eating. I'm not overweight 6'5-230 but belly gets bigger at 60yo and hernia is up high-incisional Hernia So don't want to overeat and push stomach against newly stitched muscle. Have to eat light.

One of the nurse's at my gasteroenteroligist said that jokingly to me once, when I was having frequent visits to his practice every few weeks during a rough stretch of a flare (endoscopy, office consults, and remicade infusions all done there at his office). I laughed nervously, and thought musingly maybe they seriously should... I mean having an 'iPoop' wing of a gasteroenteroligist's office just somehow seems appropriate...<_<

Knew the receptionist, nurse assistant's, docs and other's kids names, vacation plans, and other stuff from all of the small talking there. Good group of folks, I just kept ribbing the doc "As much as I like seeing y'all regularly, if Doctor R. would just fix me, then I wouldn't have to keep dropping by..."

Morning 3TC been thinking of you and the thought you have to endure yet another surgery is upsetting . I wrote on my post this morning to you ... This is your last surgery you have reached your quota for lifetime of surgeries now so NO MORE👍🏻. Plus stay as long as they let you , you need to take it was for a bit. Let them take care of you .
Please let us know how you are doing afterwards . Will your kids come into the city to keep you company ?

Thanks Valli,all kids away at school so no-im driving in-leaving car at parking garage..I had no visitors for 3 surgeries.With divorce wife wasn't going out of her way to come in.Thats ok it gave me time to rest and u know after what the surgeries throw at you u need all the rest u can get.Dr said 1-3 days in hospital.Im hopeing I'm home tomorrow.I sleep better at home.They actually got me a bed i think for first surgery that was extra long.At 6'5 i need extra long to get comfortable.Now i had spleen removed back in 77 from football,so now were at 5-should i go for the half dozen discount[ha ha]??I'll be fine.Leaving here soon,have to be in at 12:30-pouchoscopy and surgery at 2:00.Thanks

Who drove you to the other surgeries? I am sure you had someone helping you? I was alone most of the time too. I have my boyfriend but I didn't have any real "visitors". I am somewhat private, and I really don't prefer to have people seeing me, especially when I am at my worst - and after surgery is not my best look. Talk to you tomorrow! Take it easy, and don't rush out of there.

NSSG. My younger daughter was in high school last year so she was Driving Mr Daddy. I had no issues with no visitors. Plus getting into Manhattan at any time is a nightmare Plus it's all drive thru surgery so your in and out in 2-3-4 days. I'm here in my gown waiting. There delayed so might be closer to 2:30-3 instead of 2. Everything good
