Hi--I am a young 73--developed uc when I was 16--tried many docs, plans, routines, rxs---limped along--in 2004 I was diagnosed with pyaderma gangrinosa--a nasty wound related to Crohn's/uc? Doctor prescribed Remicade--was very successful until I had an allergic reaction in 2006--have taken mesalamine since then with no symptoms (knock on wood)--asked doc if I could stop, since I am on many other drugs, not related to uc, and he advised not to---your thoughts? And to those who are suffering, hang in there. Things will get better. Be glad that you are in the era with new, better drugs and are not having to boil lettuce like I did .
