Had my colonoscopy (and an endoscopy) 2 days ago and still having so much gas, burping and having diarrhea. This is my 14th colonoscopy over 25 years and 20 years ago I used to be just fine after these things. I could go out to eat right away and eat whatever I want! Now as I get older they just seem to take a harsher toll on me each time. 2 years ago I was able to mostly eat fine the next day. 4 years ago I ended up in the hospital with such horrible bloating and gas pains I couldn't take it. Now this time, I had TONS of burping and gas the same day as the tests. But 2 days later I still have that. And no matter what I eat it just makes more gas. Yesterday I even threw up in the afternoon as the food just would not digest in me hours after eating. Now last night and today I have diarrhea - normally I wouldn't have a BM for like 2 days after a scope.
How long does it normally take you to get back to 'normal' after a scope? I was having formed stool before this. I'm not in a flare-up - proven by the results of my colonoscopy. I was having horrible indigestion before which is why I had the endocscopy. I did the same prep I always do (Miralax). Same food after. But just seems every time I have a scope I have no idea how my body will react now. Does anybody else have this issue? Their body just can't handle these scopes as well anymore and it takes days and days to get back to 'normal'? What do you do to try to get your gut (and this time in my case, stomach) back to normal? I've lost weight not being able to eat much and I need to start eating at some point. Even mashed potatoes and crackers give me gas right now. I just need to get my gut to slow back down (and my stomach to speed back up) so food can get through me normally.
Oh and my regime is always to take 4 GasX pills a day after the scope, to try to combat that CO2 gas they put in there (that never dissipates in me like they say it should).
