delta -- do you take relafen daily or as needed?
In the past (when I started taking it in 2013), I needed 4 tablets daily i.e. 1.5g-x-1.5g to survive (could not function with headache) but after 2015, I have been taking as needed. Lately, my need has reduced significantly so nowadays I take like once a week or so.
I also take alcoholic extract of Turmeric and Boswellia capsules. They definitely help to keep use of Relafen in check.
Ginger root's idea is good too. I add grated ginger in turmeric-alcohol mixture while soaking process.

I use an arthritis medication called Voltaren topical gel. I have never had a problem since it's a different delivery method. It is only available by script..
Voltaren contains Diclofenac (Na or K salt). It is pretty much the same as Ibuprofen in terms of the side effect profile. I have used it. Just application on the forehead would lead me to the flare.
Everyone's tolerance is different. So unless you try you would not know. My headaches were so bad since Dx (2008) that I HAD to take Advil before going to work or I would not be able to function so I (ab)used Advil a lot between 2008-2013, just to be able to function. That led to the point that if I use any classical NSAID, I would end up pooping blood. Then my PCP suggested Relafen. While the effect is Relafen was never as good as classical NSAID, it helps me function.
Try under physician's supervision so you know what works with you and what doesn't.
