I think it would be incredibly selfish to travel for pleasure only when so much of the world is suffering and the possibility of spreading the virus is extremely high. There are a lot of immunosuppressed people who may not survive as well as elderly. It is a known fact that there is not enough equipment available to deal with a surge of ill people requiring intensive care. Why would you want to take the chance????
I completely agree. Incredibly selfish. Like those self-absorbed millennial spring breakers in FL.
I have told myself that I will do everything in my power not to infect someone else. I would feel terrible if a coworker, friend, parent etc got sick because I couldn't be bothered to sit in my house for a couple weeks. God forbid they died or had permanent lung damage. I couldn't live with that guilt. This doesn't even take into account the hundreds of people who could potentially be infected by the people I pass it on to and the healthcare workers who will be at the tail end of that cycle and the terrible things they will deal with.
My mother lives a mile away and I am not visiting. Sorry but you are lying to yourself if you think that you can go through an airport, through security, get on a plane, go through bag check and not interact with others. Perhaps if she was already ailing I might consider it if it might be the last time I could see her or something like that.
If, after all precautions, I happen to get it and pass it along I will not lose much sleep.
